What is Matariki

Matariki is the Māori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades and it can be called the seven sisters.  It rises during Pipiri (June/July) and marks the beginning of the Māori new year.  This cluster is part of a larger constellation of stars called Taurus. It is one of the earliest recorded groups of stars in human history, with a record that dates back some 17,000 years. The names of the nine stars are Matariki, Tupuārangi, Waipuna-ā-Rangi, Waitī, Tupuānuku, Ururangi, Waitā, Pōhutukawa and Hiwa-i-te-Rangi.

Matariki sets on the western horizon in the evening around the beginning of winter during the lunar period of Takurua. It is at this time that Matariki disappears from view because of the light of the sun

DNA Science

Hi everyone, today we learnt about DNA, where it gives information inside of the body’s cells that helps people who they are.  Our DNA book is 3 billion letters long. We made DNA out of lollies. \If our DNA was made of lollies it would be 60,000 km long.

This is DNA that was made of lollies.

Reflection Week 7 Term 2

Hi everyone, today I will be talking about my reflection in week 7 in term 2.

What went well this week is  doing good in P.E and trying the best as I can in Hockey Tournament. Our alu-salo happened last wednesday night and it was so good. The performers did really well and one of my favourite events this year.

Something that challenged me this week is versing other school playng hockey. The other schools were doing well that made it challenging.

Something that I was able to control is the doing my tiny house rough drafts, it was really hard but I was able to control it with helps with my teacher and classmates.

New things I learned is the art for my animal report and I learned to do ransom notes by those magazines

My goal for next week is to do better in hockey and finish some works in Textiles.

Reflection Week 3 Term 2

Hi everyone, today I will be talking about my reflection about my third week of term 2.

What went well this week is got chosen to represent my school in Hockey. We had a trials and got chosen. This week goes well not that just because of that but getting better with these subjects and having a better relationship with my new classmates.

Semoething challenged this week is my sport hockey because we have to show how hardworking we are and everypody deserves to get chosen. Other thing that challenged me this week is Dance, like what I said I’m still learning to be better at it.

Something that I was able to control is the hard questions in Maths.

New things I learned is things I didn’t know in hockey before.

My goal for next week is to be better in Textiles.

Reflection Week 2 Term 2

Hi everyone, we had to do blog about my reflection in the second week of term 2.

The second week of the term 2 goes better and better. It’s becoming normal as we have different subjects than the last term. This week went not that well but managed to be enjoying week. I already like some of the new subjects but still needs to improve with it with a guide of my teacher.

Something challenged me this week is the dance because it’s not really my hobby or thing I like to do but still learning to be better at it. Other thing that challenged me is Literacy works, It’s not that hard but I’m just confused at it.

Something I was able to control is to play nicely and communicating well with my classmates in P.E . I’m so happy because it goes better and better. Other thing  was able to control is things we have to in Textiles.

New things I learned this week is sewing straightly and getting better at it.

My goals for next week is to get chosen in 9 people for hockey.

Reflection Week 1 Term 2

Hi everyone, We had to do a blog post about my reflection in the first week of term 2.

The first week of the week goes normal as usual but we have a different subjects.I’m happy  how my relationship to my classmates goes better and better. What went well this week is P.E ccommunicating with my classmates and how the group works to us.  I just enjoyed because that’s one of the most important thing in school.

Something that challenged me this week is new classes like Dance because I haven’t done it before and it just didn’t go that well. I just started doing it and I know I’m probablly gonna get used to it. I’m starting to like some of them and with a guide of my teacher, it didn’t’t go that bad.

Something that I was able to control is the hard questions in maths. I was still able to control with a help with my teacher Cornish. It was converting unit of measurements, I haven’t done it before and I’m confused when I first started doing it.

New things I learned from this week is converting units of measurements in Maths, We just started doing it and It’s actually hard but I handled it. Other thing I learned this week is the Anzac day, we learned how the people risked their lives for our country.

My goals for the next week is do well in all subjects and try my best expecially in the new subjects like Dance and Textiles etc. Other goals is to do better in my sports and communicate with other new people.

Music This Term

Hello Everyone, today in Music we had to create a blog post about what we have been enjoying so far and what we’ve learned. Favourite things that I’ve learned and least favourite.

My favourite things in Music is learning how to drum sticks, that’s what we’re learning this week and I really enjoy. I’ve enjoyed most of the lesson in Music but the piano didn’t match the things I like about music. It was fun learning how to play piano with my classmates and friends. We tried Lean on me, Ole to joy, Seven nation army, and Can’t falling in love. We’re trying the drum sticks this, what I enjoyed the most.

Catch it

It was a dimly lit barrow on a flaming scorching day in the Savannah Oasis when I emerged from my slumber. I struggled to keep my eyes open while I stretched and yawned. I tumbled down, my brothers and sisters sleeping in a pile. I then made my way outside to check for food. As I and my sibling soon spotted a glorious piece of pomegranate we quickly went up there to get it. I then smell the sweet fruit which reminded me of a honey bee.  While we cherished it we saw a vulture. As soon as we saw him, we quickly went back to our place to hide.

Suddenly the vulture came. The vulture sat on the tree and looked at the fruit looking angry and hungry. He made his way towards the fruit. We’re wondering what he’s gonna do next. I saw the vulture eyes drift toward the pomegranate. I wanted to get it. Checking if there’s anyone around. The vulture got the pomegranate and left. As soon as he took the pomegranate, we quickly chased him like a cheetah and helped each other to get him. We finally chased by touching his feet. We held each other’s feet so we could make it together.

We were holding his feet and in the air, He knew we were touching his feet. So he flew so hard with circular motion and we broke apart. The fruit fell and I catched the fruit and passed it to each other while he was chasing us. He took the fruit and flew away so fast. As he flew so fast, he couldn’t see that he was about to hit the cliff and he hit the cliff because he wasn’t looking. He dropped the fruit,I  quickly ran towards the fruit and catched it.

We celebrated because we could finally taste the smooth fruit and as excited we became. I kicked the fruit so hard that it made it go further than we expected…

Splat! The precious fruit was gone forever.
