Music This Term

Hello Everyone, today in Music we had to create a blog post about what we have been enjoying so far and what we’ve learned. Favourite things that I’ve learned and least favourite.

My favourite things in Music is learning how to drum sticks, that’s what we’re learning this week and I really enjoy. I’ve enjoyed most of the lesson in Music but the piano didn’t match the things I like about music. It was fun learning how to play piano with my classmates and friends. We tried Lean on me, Ole to joy, Seven nation army, and Can’t falling in love. We’re trying the drum sticks this, what I enjoyed the most.

Catch it

It was a dimly lit barrow on a flaming scorching day in the Savannah Oasis when I emerged from my slumber. I struggled to keep my eyes open while I stretched and yawned. I tumbled down, my brothers and sisters sleeping in a pile. I then made my way outside to check for food. As I and my sibling soon spotted a glorious piece of pomegranate we quickly went up there to get it. I then smell the sweet fruit which reminded me of a honey bee.  While we cherished it we saw a vulture. As soon as we saw him, we quickly went back to our place to hide.

Suddenly the vulture came. The vulture sat on the tree and looked at the fruit looking angry and hungry. He made his way towards the fruit. We’re wondering what he’s gonna do next. I saw the vulture eyes drift toward the pomegranate. I wanted to get it. Checking if there’s anyone around. The vulture got the pomegranate and left. As soon as he took the pomegranate, we quickly chased him like a cheetah and helped each other to get him. We finally chased by touching his feet. We held each other’s feet so we could make it together.

We were holding his feet and in the air, He knew we were touching his feet. So he flew so hard with circular motion and we broke apart. The fruit fell and I catched the fruit and passed it to each other while he was chasing us. He took the fruit and flew away so fast. As he flew so fast, he couldn’t see that he was about to hit the cliff and he hit the cliff because he wasn’t looking. He dropped the fruit,I  quickly ran towards the fruit and catched it.

We celebrated because we could finally taste the smooth fruit and as excited we became. I kicked the fruit so hard that it made it go further than we expected…

Splat! The precious fruit was gone forever.

Paper Plane

Hypothesis (What I think will happen)

I think that the big plane will fly further because the higher the weight the higher the chance that it will fly and swing further.

Background

There are four forces that act on the paper plane when it is flying.

  • Thrust, how fast it is pushed
  • Lift, how much wing area can be pushed up
  • Gravity, pulls the plane down
  • Drag, slows the plane down

This video shows some information about how paper planes fly. I thought that it does a great job explaining how to make a great paper plane.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph13AC09Sbg

Equipment

  • A4 paper
  • A5 paper

Steps (Method)

Here are a series of pictures showing how to fold the planes.

Fold paper in half

Fold the ends

Fold the ends a second time

Fold in half

Fold the wings out

Then we took turns throwing the two planes and videoing which flew further.

We repeated the throw 3 times.

Results (What we found out)

The small plane flew further.

(Insert video or pictures here)

Or..

We measure how far each plane travelled using a metre ruler. The results are shown on this table.

Conclusion (what it means)

This is where you look at your data and think WHY did that happen?

The small plane flew further than the other plane.

Why I think that the small plane flew further because it has .….

I did some research and found out that planes with bigger wings fly further because they can generate more lift. Here is a Youtube video explaining why. Especially at 5.30 where he talks about bigger wings generating lift.

This website also has a great explanation about wing sizes and lift. It also talks about birds which is our teachers favourite thing so I’ll get extra points for adding this!

https://www.sciencelearn.org.nz/resources/301-wing-loading#:~:text=Wings%20generate%20lift%20due%20to,lift%20at%20any%20given%20speed.

What I would change

I’m gonna fold them better and swings the both of the planes in same force.

Community

Community is a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage.

My word art is about what community i’m in, sports, family, school and etc.

Ramp it up!

Hypothesis

I think the marble is gonna go further because the greaater the point that the marble is released from, the higher/ is its potential energy. The steeper angle will increase the speed of the rolling.

Equipment

Marble

Ping Pong ball

Pipe

Ring Binder

Steps (Method)

  1.  We got our marble and ping pong ball.

2.  Get the a pipe and a ring binder, set it up.

3.  Roll the marble and ping pong ball 3 times.

Results

Roll Marble Ping Pong ball
1 26 22
2 23.5 19
3 19 17
Average 22.8 19

The marble rolled further than the ping pong ball.

Conclusion

The results showed that my hypothesis was correct. The marble went further because it rolled horizontally and the steeper angle makes it go further.
